Castle Water, Rye Harbour

Today we went to Castle Water. We went a different route in so we didn’t get close to the Marsh Harriers but we did see one Hobby and two Raven. When we got to Halpin hide it quickly got better with Little Egret, Great White Egret, Cattle Egret, Grey Heron and a lot of Cormorant on the closest island. After ten minutes Marsh Harrier started hunting over the reeds at the far back of the Lake. That was all we saw for one and a half hours until a medium sized brown bird flew down the lake, we immediately knew what it was, it was an adult Eurasian Bittern, it was a bit far but was good to see.
